LG Dryer d80, d90 and d95 Error Codes
LG dryers with Flow Sense watch the airflow through the exhaust vent. d75, d80, d90 and d95 mean the vent is about 75%, 80%, 90% or 95% blocked. LG's advice for d90 and d95 is blunt: don't use the dryer until the exhaust has been cleaned.

What d80, d90 and d95 mean on an LG dryer
LG says these codes show the dryer's exhaust duct is clogged by roughly 75% (d75), 80% (d80), 90% (d90) or 95% (d95). Two or four bars on the Flow Sense indicator also mean the exhaust is severely restricted. Hot, humid air that can't get out keeps clothes damp and makes drying take much longer, and LG warns that running a dryer with a severely restricted exhaust may be unsafe.
One exception: LG notes that on gas dryers, d80 may mean the dryer isn't getting enough gas. Some LG gas dryers also show what looks like "9A5", which actually spells GAS. Gas supply problems are not a DIY job; see below.
Common causes
- Lint buildup on the filter or in the duct behind the dryer.
- A crushed, kinked or coiled transition duct.
- An outside vent cover whose flaps can't open, or lint packed around it.
- A long duct run with several bends inside the walls, which clogs faster and is hard to see into.
Safety: unplug the dryer before pulling it out or disconnecting the duct. On a gas dryer, don't move it far enough to strain the gas line, and never loosen gas fittings. If you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 or your gas utility from outside.
Safe things to try first
- Clean the lint filter. Remove lint after every load. Every so often, wash the filter with warm water and a soft brush, then let it dry before reinstalling.
- Check behind the dryer. The exhaust duct shouldn't be crushed, dented, kinked or coiled like a spring. LG recommends rigid or semi-rigid duct, run straight or in a gentle S-curve, with no holes or loose connections.
- Look for blockages at the dryer. With the dryer unplugged, LG suggests disconnecting the duct from the back of the dryer and removing any visible obstruction before reconnecting it.
- Check the outside vent. Run an Air Dry cycle and go outside. The flaps should open all the way and you should feel strong airflow. Clear visible lint around the opening.
- Reduce the load. A smaller load lets air move from back to front.
When to call for help
If the code stays after those checks, the blockage is probably inside the walls or attic. LG recommends a professional dryer vent cleaning, and asking them to check the vent's length and number of 90-degree bends. If the vent is clean and the code continues, or a gas dryer shows d80 or GAS, the dryer needs a technician.

Can I keep using my LG dryer with a d90 or d95 code?
LG says no: using a dryer with a severely restricted exhaust may create an unsafe environment, and you shouldn't use it until the exhaust system has been cleaned and repaired.
