LG washers

OE: won't drain

OE is LG's drain error. On front-loaders, the first check is the drain pump filter behind the small panel at the bottom front, where socks, coins and lint collect. Then check the drain hose for kinks or a clog. Step-by-step help: LG washer OE.

IE: not filling

IE means water didn't reach the right level in time. Taps not fully open, kinked hoses and clogged inlet screens are common causes, and hard water speeds up that clogging. See LG washer IE.

UE or uE: unbalanced load

A small uE means the washer is still trying to rebalance; a capital UE means it has given up and needs you to redistribute the load. See LG washer UE. If it happens with every load, worn shocks or suspension may be the cause.

Odor and a damp gasket

LG front-loaders seal tightly, so moisture stays inside. Leave the door open between loads, wipe the gasket, clean the drain filter, and run the Tub Clean cycle as LG recommends.

LG dryers

LG's Flow Sense codes d80, d90 and d95 mean the exhaust vent is increasingly blocked. That's a lint and fire-safety issue as much as a drying-time issue. See LG dryer d80, d90, d95. On gas models, d80 can also mean the dryer isn't getting gas.

LG refrigerators

An Er FF on an LG refrigerator is a freezer fan error, often a fan blocked by ice; see refrigerator FF codes. Other common LG refrigerator complaints are an ice maker that stops making ice or freezes up, water on the floor from a frozen or clogged drain, and a refrigerator that stops cooling altogether. When both sections are warm, the cause can be anything from a condenser fan or control board to the compressor itself, and many LG refrigerators use a linear compressor that needs proper testing before anyone condemns the fridge.

LG dishwashers and ranges

Common LG dishwasher problems are drainage (check and rinse the filter first), leaks and poor drying. On LG ranges, an oven that won't heat usually comes down to the bake element or igniter, a sensor or the control board.

What to check first

1. Note the code exactly, including small or capital letters.
2. Clean the filter: washer drain filter, dryer lint screen, dishwasher filter.
3. Check water and vent paths: taps open, hoses unkinked, the outside dryer vent flap opens when the dryer runs.
4. Refrigerator: check the doors close fully and the vents inside aren't blocked by food.
