Whirlpool dryers: runs but no heat
On many Whirlpool electric dryers, a restricted vent makes the dryer overheat, and a safety part called the thermal fuse opens to protect it. The dryer still tumbles but stays cold. Replacing the fuse without clearing the vent just means it blows again, so we check the vent run as part of the repair. A failed heating element or high-limit thermostat can cause the same symptom. Top-loader lid lock light blinking
Top-load washers lock the lid before they spin. If the lid lock light flashes and the washer won't start or spin, check that nothing is caught under the lid and that it closes firmly. A lid lock that keeps failing to lock usually needs to be replaced.
F9 E1: long drain time

Shaking, banging and noisy spins
Worn suspension parts or dampers on top-loaders and worn shocks or bearings on front-loaders cause heavy shaking and roaring noises on spin. Level the washer first, and call if the noise continues.
Whirlpool refrigerators
Common problems include an ice maker that stopped working (check the water filter, the supply valve and that the ice maker is switched on), a fresh-food section that's warm while the freezer is cold (often an evaporator fan or a defrost problem), and water under the crisper drawers from a clogged defrost drain. Whirlpool dishwashers and ranges
Many newer Whirlpool dishwashers use a removable filter at the bottom of the tub that should be rinsed regularly. When it isn't, dishes come out gritty and water can stay in the tub. That's the first thing to check before calling. On Whirlpool ranges, an oven that won't heat is often a bake element (electric) or a weak igniter (gas).
What to check first
- Dryer: clean the lint screen and check the outside vent flap opens and air flows strongly while it runs.
- Washer: make sure the lid or door closes firmly, clean the drain filter, and check hoses.
- Refrigerator: check the doors close, the filter date and the condenser coils.
- Dishwasher: twist out and rinse the filter.
When to call
Call if the dryer is cold after the vent is clear, the washer won't lock, drain or spin, the refrigerator stays warm, or there's water on the floor.
