LG Washer IE Error Code
On LG washers, IE is the water inlet error. LG says it appears when water doesn't fill the tub to an adequate level within a set time. It's often a faucet, hose or filter screen problem you can check yourself.

What IE means on an LG washer
LG describes IE as a water inlet error: the washer opened its water valve, but the tub didn't reach the right water level in the time allowed. Some LG models show "No Water Supply" instead.
Common causes (from LG)
- The water is shut off, a faucet is closed, or a supply hose isn't connected.
- A supply hose is pinched or bent, often after the washer shifts during spin.
- A frozen faucet or hose (rare here, but possible in a garage during a hard freeze).
- Rust, sand or grit clogging the small filter where the hose connects.
- If none of those, a malfunctioning water supply (inlet) valve in the washer.
Safety: unplug the washer before moving it, and turn the faucets off before disconnecting any hose. Keep a towel and bucket nearby.
Safe things to try first
- Check the faucets. Make sure both hoses are connected and both faucets behind the washer are fully open (turn counterclockwise).
- Straighten the hoses. Look for kinks or a hose squashed against the wall. If a hose is badly bent, LG suggests turning off the faucet, disconnecting it and straightening it out.
- Check the water itself. If other faucets in the house have little or no water, the problem is the home supply, not the washer.
- Clean the inlet filters. With the faucets off, disconnect the hose end at the washer, pull out the small filter screen with your fingers or pliers, and rinse off any rust, sand or grit. Put the filter back before reconnecting the hose, then open the faucets.
- Try again. Start a short cycle and watch that water flows in.
When to call a technician
If the faucets are open, the hoses are straight, the filters are clean and IE still comes back, LG points to a possible malfunction in the water supply valve. That needs a technician. Also call if you notice water leaking at the hose connections or under the machine.
